Updated Forward Features Schedule To December 2021

Here is an updated forward features list for our global coverage. The list may be revised on occasions depending on major news events.

Here is an updated forward features list that takes the agenda up to the end of 2021. It has been adjusted partly because of the pandemic, but also to reflect other trends bubbling up in the industry.     

Our 2020 calendar had to be amended to take account of how so much of the world has been upended by COVID-19. Clearly, its effects will continue to demand a place in our readers’ minds. We are, however, keen to cover areas that aren’t simply about the pandemic and its aftermath – it is important that other subjects aren’t ignored. 

We also will cover certain topics throughout the year rather than focus on any one month - technology, wealth planning and the strategies of particular institutions and individuals, for example.

January 
After the traumas of 2020, the big shifts in wealth and the likelihood of pressures from governments to tax and cut spending to rein in massive debt, how will this affect HNW and UHNW individuals? We take a “macro” look at the changing fortunes of wealthy individuals and the asset allocation decisions they will possibly need to consider.

February
A month of features/interviews about fintech, technological developments and challenges for the wealth management sector. 

March
A focus on family offices, drawing on the insights from Highworth Research, as well as our own interviews with practitioners in the space. We will look at trends such as professionalization, benchmarking, costs, outsourcing, service providers, direct investing and governance.

April
Wealth management and HR – talent management; talking to headhunters; how firms’ requirements are changing because of new types of clients; shifting demographics, etc, etc. 

May 
What the wealth management sector is going to look like as hopefully COVID-19 is displaced by vaccines. Will people return to offices? Will client meetings, big presentations and investor roadshows revert to more traditional forms? 

June 
An examination of regional markets within countries, such as the wealth hotspots of the US (Florida, northeast, California, etc) and the UK (Midlands, southwest, etc). We aim to talk to local players, identify drivers of success, challenges and risks. Where suiitable, we will also look at certain countries that sometimes get overlooked or are not usually regarded as wealth hotspots (the Low Countries, Scandinavia, Israel, Spain, etc).

July 
We take another look at the technology tools that wealth managers use, the ones that they ought to be using, and how they should think about fintech in driving growth, onboarding and serving Next-Gen clients, and retaining customers. We hope to glean case studies, firms' evaluations of what technology really delivers returns on investment, and what lessons should be learned. 

August

A look at international financial centres and the shifting fortunes of this sector. 

October 
How private banks remain relevant to the younger generation (ideas about branding, marketing, client segmentation, concierge and new offerings outside finance, sourcing clients, etc)?

November
Impact investing and philanthropy.

December
