Vestra Launches SEC-Regulated US Wealth Business

Vestra Wealth, the UK-based firm, is launching a US business dedicated to addressing the complex regulatory and tax issues faced by transatlantic investors. Vestra US Wealth Management is regulated by both the UK’s Financial Conduct Authority and the Securities and Exchange Commission . It is led by directors Paul Nixon and Neil Williams, and also has a specialist team which will create portfolios for clients that take into account income and growth requirements, as well as tax and investment constraints.

RBC Wealth Management has appointed Robert Magel as branch director of its Denver, CO, tech office - a role in which he is responsible for the oversight of 21 financial advisors. Magel has 30 years of industry experience and most recently worked at UBS as a branch and complex manager . Previously, he was a financial advisor at Dean Witter, and then served as branch manager and regional manager when the company became Morgan Stanley.

RBC Wealth Management has added five financial advisors - latterly of Morgan Stanley - to its Pittsburgh, PA, office, according to Ken Ross, senior managing director at the Pittsburgh complex. Russell Sherred, Pamela Pasterick, Ken Kuska, Kathleen Corrales and Matthew Lawrence together have $380 million in assets under management and generate production of $2 . 8 million.

RBC Wealth Management has brought in Michael Melton as branch director at its San Diego, CA, office. The move expands the Canadian bank's presence in Southern California, which includes offices in Beverly Hills, Century City, Escondido, La Jolla, Long Beach, Newport Beach, Pasadena and Manhattan Beach . Melton has over 20 years of industry experience and joins RBC Wealth Management from Morgan Stanley Smith Barney (now Morgan Stanley Wealth Management), where he was most recently complex director of the San Diego and Palm Desert market.

Baird is planning to open a new wealth management office in the Northeast and has brought in Peter Miller from Wells Fargo to lead the effort. Miller is charged with recruiting experienced advisors in the Northeast to staff a new office there; the precise location of the new office has not been determined yet . Miller himself will be based at the firm’s St Louis office.

RBC Brings In Manulife Chief For Combined Global Support Groups

RBC Wealth Management has confirmed the appointment of Jean-François Courville - formerly president and chief executive of Manulife Asset Management - as executive vice president of global wealth services and chief operating officer, with effect from 4 February. RBC told Family Wealth Report the hire is in line with the merger of its two global support groups, global wealth services and operations and technology . The former was previously led by Stuart Rutledge, who is now based in Jersey and serves as head of global trust and UK.

RBC Expands Omaha Branch With String Of Morgan Stanley Hires

Canada’s RBC Wealth Management has strengthened its Omaha, NE, office, appointing five financial advisors and three client associates from Morgan Stanley in a move which adds $758 million in assets under management. Joining the Omaha branch as financial advisors are: Jason Judge, first vice president; Matt Rose, vice president; Ken Ferrarini, senior vice president; Steve Ferrarini, associate vice president; and Scott Leinen, first vice president . Meanwhile, Laura Kolasky, Barbara Essi and Kelly Blankenship start as senior client associates.
