Daily News Analysis

Boston based State Street Global Markets has released the results of the March 2010 Investor Confidence Index showing an increase in global investor confidence.

Globally, investor confidence rose by 5.4 to 108.0 from the February’s revised reading of 102. The Asian institutional investors’ confidence rose by 4.1 to 100.8 from February’s revised reading of 96.7.

The rest of the results were somewhat muted: North America rose slightly to 110.4 from 110.1, while European confidence decreased to 97.3 from 99.8.

The investor confidence index analyses the buying and selling patterns of institutional investors, and uses this data as a indicator of investor risk appetite. A greater percentage allocation to equities signals a higher appetite for risk or confidence.
